Welcome to ICANN 2014

The 24th International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks.
An annual conference of the European Neural Network Society.

Aims and Scope

The International Conference on Artificial Neural Networks (ICANN) is the annual flagship conference of the European Neural Network Society (ENNS). The ideal of ICANN is to bring together researchers from two worlds: information sciences and neurosciences. The scope is wide, ranging from machine learning algorithms to models of real nervous systems. The aim is to facilitate discussions and interactions in the effort towards developing more intelligent computational systems and increasing our understanding of neural and cognitive processes in the brain.

Message from the ICANN 2014 Chair

In 2014, the Knowledge Technology Institute in Computer Science at the University of Hamburg organised the 24th ICANN Conference in Hamburg, Germany. Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany, home to about 1.8 million people. Situated on the river Elbe, the port of Hamburg is the second largest port in Europe and often considered the gate to the world. The University of Hamburg is the largest institution for research and education in the north of Germany. We invited all neural network researchers worldwide to join us on September 15–19, 2014.

Thanks to all reviewers, committee members, all participants, the local committee and the ENNS board the ICANN 2014 was made a common success. In 2015 IJCNN will come to Europe (Ireland). Therefore, the next ICANN will be in 2016 and is planned to be in Barcelona as announced at ICANN 2014 by Prof Villa, president of ENNS.

best wishes, Stefan Wermter
